About the Amateur Radio Relay Group, Inc.

ARRG stands for the Amateur Radio Relay Group and is made up of an extensive wide area Oregon State based Amateur Radio Repeater system.

ARRG Repeaters are available, along with their associated linking systems, to the membership of the ARRG and also made freely available as a public service to the general Amateur Radio Community.

The Amateur Radio Relay Group has been approached by local organizations, concerning emergency and routine use of the ARRG repeater systems.  The purpose and intent of the amateur Radio Relay Group, is to develop, operate and maintain a reliable, broad coverage, emergency communication repeater system, capable of satisfying the regional amateur radio emergency communications needs.

The intent of requesting and scheduling of ARRG’s repeaters resources is to minimize conflicts of uses and users while providing access to this coverage.

The Amateur Radio Relay Group does not intend to position itself in a policing mode, but does intend to establish a guideline for all of our users.  This information will be published

 PRIORITY OF USE

1.   Emergency involving danger to life.

2.   Emergency involving danger to property

3.   Routine traffic,

a.   Regular scheduled nets,

b.   Prearranged communications (public service),

c.   Prearranged communications (emergency tests),

d.   Autopatch traffic.

4.   Other uses, such as normal conversations, unscheduled drills and tests.

In the case of a real emergency (#1 above), there exists the possibility that multiple agencies would desire to one or more of our systems.  In the event that sharing needs to occur, it would be expected that all groups understand that it is not important who is actual net control, but that as many needs as can be met are done so in the spirit of cooperation.

The organizations who have ARRG’s repeater’s as part of their emergency plans may wish to decide among themselves what methods of sharing can best be used in case of an emergency.

ARRG has several repeaters in key locations, and the coverage areas can often serve the same point-to-point sites.  The wide area coverage systems should be used for only wide area and long distance traffic.

Thank you for your continued support of our repeaters.
